Icon of Landscape Architecture: Johan van Papendorp
At every ILASA award ceremony, ILASA chooses to acknowledge an Icon of Landscape Architecture. A person who has throughout their life and career demonstrated integrity and commitment to landscape architecture. As this year’s Icon of Landscape architecture Johan is best described by Penny Moir: “Johan is not only one of the founding members of OvP Associates, but one of the founding landscape architects for the profession in South Africa. His role in both, has been invaluable to the industry – Johan has set an example for up-and-coming landscape architects.” ILASA wishes Johan a hearty congratulations!

This is the first year that the Just Trees Award is presenting an award for the best use of trees in a landscape design.

The 2013 Corobrik-ILASA Special Award is bestowed upon Clare Burges and Bruce Eitzen in recognition of the time and effort spent arranging the successful and inspiring 49th International Federation of Landscape Architecture (IFLA) World Congress, which was held in Cape Town from 4 to 7 September last year.
