EcoAgriculture Partners, as a partner in UNDP’s Equator Initiative, is excited to share the 2019 call for nominations for the Equator Prize with our community.
The Equator Prize 2019 will be awarded to outstanding community and indigenous initiatives that are advancing nature-based solutions for local sustainable development. The Equator Prize winners will join a prestigious network of 223 community-based organizations from 78 countries that have been awarded the Equator Prize since 2002. Each winning group will receive USD 10,000 and will be invited to participate in a series of policy dialogues and special events during the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2019, culminating in an award ceremony at the beginning of Climate Week.
We ask for your support in two key areas:
Nominate communities that are innovating and advancing creative solutions related to natural resource management, climate change and sustainable development
Circulate this announcement amongst your partners and contacts, encouraging them to submit nominations and share the call for nominations with their networks
For further information, please visit www.equatorinitiative.org. You will find all the relevant information on eligibility requirements, selection criteria and how to nominate. Nominations can be submitted in eight different languages in the new online nomination system at https://prize.equatorinitiative.org/.
The Equator Prize 2019 nomination process will offer community-based initiatives the opportunity to share their work on the Equator Initiative’s web portal of local nature-based solutions for sustainable development. The platform connects communities around the world and shares local solutions that work for people and planet (irrespective of whether they win the Equator Prize). Participation in this platform is optional when submitting nominations for the Equator Prize.
