The third year landscape architecture students from the University of Pretoria with Dr Ida Breed, attended yet another Planting Design Field Trip. Plant growers and vegetation experts Ivan vd Walt and Dr Johan Wentzel were kind enough to assist students to identify habitat conditions for coexistence of plant communities on Strubenkop, which is situated on the experimental farm of the university. The fieldwork mapped existing plant communities and native species that are considered for incorporation in the biodiversity garden that Dr Breed is leading as part of the Future Africa Project. Insite Landscape Architects and Earthworld Architects are the project architects for this exciting project that also includes food gardens with African orphan crops.
