CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

One of the core mandates of ILASA is to provide the opportunity to its members to access Continued Professional Development (CPD) as required by the professional body SACLAP in terms of maintaining professional registration. Members are advised to collect the required CPD credits. Credit accumulation is over a 5 year cycle. Please consult the SACLAP website and view their mandates on professional practice www.saclap.org.za or access CPD documents from their Downloads page www.saclap.org.za/Downloads for more information on CPD credit requirements. Please make sure that you sign an attendance register if you attend an ILASA CPD event, this will ensure that your name is recorded and submitted to SACLAP for CPD credit verification.

SACLAP mandates recognised Voluntary Associations (VA’s) to run activities which will be acknowledged for obtaining CPD credits. ILASA is a recognised voluntary association of the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession (SACLAP). SACLAP considers it’s VA‘s cable of ensuring that all their validated activities meet required standards. These activities are described in Category 1, Section 6 of the SACLAP Continued Professional Development Policy document, effective as of 6 May 2016.

It is the responsibility of registered persons, who intend participating in an activity to ensure that it has been validated and that the CPD credits awarded to such activity will be recognised by SACLAP. ILASA assists by including a list of validated activities on our website.

All requests for review and validation of new activities (events and short courses) by the ILASA CPD Committee must be submitted to the ILASA secretariat using the application page. Please direct any questions to the ILASA Secretariat at ilasaservices@vdw.co.za.
